They say you can sometimes recognize the faces of people you know in strangers. You then project your feelings for the people you already know onto these unknowing strangers. Well, the older I get, the more people I know, and lately, it's gotten out of control. I find myself having strong reactions to just about anyone I meet. I had deep feelings of admiration, and yet smoldering resentment for the guy who just stamped my passport. Of course, I didn't say anything. He had a gun. And besides, he wouldn't have understood me anyway, the bastard.
