That is the question isn’t it? Whether a haiku should be given to you
by nature. Or created by you from your memory. I suppose that memory is of
nature as well. So either way it’s really the same thing. The difference of
course is creating them yourself would probably allow more haiku’s to be made.
You can’t just roll out of bed and expect five haikus to land on you. But
you could think of seven in one day. Course they might suck. I suspect there’s no real meaningful answer to that
distinction. It would only be whether or not (a reader) prefers the more
natural variety or the kind which reveal forethought. The “hand of the artist”
visible or invisible.
