you think of my counter-examples?
also, i'd venture to say that not all new things are an improvement. the sound
quality on cd's is notoriously worse than the sound you can get off of an LP
(in good shape of course) or even a fast-running magnetic tape. the sampling
quality of digital information storage reduces the total amount of
image/sound/data that you get at any given instant. one of my film profs has
zero use for DVDs for this reason. he insists on showing everything in film.
