you know about Momus's livejournal, right?
http://www.livejournal.com/users/imomus/
It makes sense that he has a livejournal, and vindicates my own
opinion of it as a superior piece of social software to bulletin
boards, friendster, whatever....
I think Momus is a really, really smart guy and an excellent writer,
with a wide array of interests that come close to my own. Some
people, particularly those who participate (as momus does) in the "I
love music" community (I don't like that board - the format sucks and
most of the people on it are opinionated jerks) think he's an arrogant
prick, but that's part of the charm of Momus.
His music...there are a lot of different Momuses. I can't claim to be
an expert on all his styles. They all shared very clever, arch
lyrics, but range from early folk ballardry to synth pop to madrigals
to god knows what his last few albums have been. I dunno if you'll
like it or not. He has, as you said, collaborated with interesting
people, and I always look forward to his essays and livejournal stuff.
Really, his web presence is a model of....something....
